Tarsier Studios' New Game 'Reanimal' Already Has Preorders

Tarsier Studios, the acclaimed creators of the Little Nightmares series, are back with a new co-op horror adventure, 'Reanimal.' While the game isn't out until 2026, preorders for some seriously expensive collector's editions are already live. Here's the tea.

aight, so get this. Tarsier Studios, the people who basically gave us years of therapy bills with the Little Nightmares series, have officially announced their next project, Reanimal. and not them already opening up preorders when the game isn’t even slated to drop until Q1 2026. that’s some serious main character energy, but okay, I'm listening.

The new game follows a brother and sister duo trapped on a nightmare island trying to rescue their friends, which sounds suspiciously like the setup for every horror movie ever, but with Tarsier’s signature art style, I’m willing to let it slide. It's coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2 (lol, future-proofing), and PC.

So What's The Vibe?

Honestly, it sounds like they took the core of Little Nightmares and just expanded on it. You can play solo, but they're really pushing the co-op gameplay (both local and online), so you can finally share the existential dread with a friend. You'll be exploring the island by boat and on foot, solving those classic environmental puzzles that make you feel smart for like five seconds.

They’re promising a “dark, unsettling tale” with “tension and thick atmosphere.” Groundbreaking, I know. But if anyone can pull off "atmosphere," it's the team that made a whole generation scared of long-armed janitors. The twisted, gorgeous visuals are back, so expect more monstrous creatures that will live in your head rent-free.

Okay, But How Much Is It Gonna Cost Me? 💸

This is where it gets spicy. THQ Nordic is publishing, and they’ve already rolled out three different physical editions for preorder because, you know, capitalism. Your wallet should be very, very afraid.

  • Standard Edition: The base game. For the emotionally and financially stable among us.
  • Deluxe Edition: Includes the base game, a Season Pass, and some exclusive preorder DLC. For when you want to commit before the first date.
  • Collector’s Edition: This is the one with big "my parents don't check their credit card statements" energy. It has everything from the Deluxe Edition plus a ton of physical collectibles: an exclusive box, an artbook, stickers, a keychain, and PVC statues of characters named "Pig" and "Bucket." Not me actually wanting a tiny statue of a character named Bucket. My taste is clearly broken.

Quick history lesson: after being acquired by Embracer Group, Tarsier had to move on to a new IP, leaving the Little Nightmares franchise in the hands of Supermassive Games. So, Reanimal is their big solo debut post-breakup. We’ll see if it was a good move or if they're entering their flop era.

No specific release date yet, just a vague Q1 2026 window. So, are you preordering now and securing your Pig statue, or are you gonna be a responsible adult and wait for the reviews? Let’s be real, your backlog is probably big enough to wait. Don't get FOMO'd, besties.
